THE IES CONNECT CALLS

Overall, the CONNECT destination contributes to interconnected, inclusive and more efficient innovation ecosystems across Europe. It builds on the existing strengths of European, national, regional and local ecosystems and attracts new, under-represented and less advanced actors in innovation territories, to establish, undertake and achieve collective ambitions in the face of challenges for the benefit of society. including ecological, digital and societal transitions.

This call has two programmes, the first Horizon programme, towards more inclusive networks and initiatives in European innovation ecosystems.

OBJECTIVE

Today's pressing challenges are inherently complex and systemic and will not be solved by individual actors or territories in isolation. Fostering enabling innovation ecosystems across Europe requires a systemic approach that is inclusive and collaborative, involves diverse actors, institutions and places, maximises the value of innovation for all and ensures the equitable diffusion of its benefits.

This destination offers a holistic package of actions that:

encourage the implementation of multiannual programmes of activities co-funded between Member States, partner countries and EU regions;
encourage the inclusion of more quadruple helix stakeholders[[[ A model of cooperation between industry, academia, civil society and public authorities, with a strong emphasis on citizens and their needs.] (academia, industry, public bodies, civil society and citizens) and greater involvement of territories in existing successful initiatives and networks for innovation deployment;
stimulate innovation procurement to help the market uptake of innovative solutions and the integration of social innovation that responds to the needs of people and society.
The target is open to any thematic area and will focus on building inclusive and interconnected innovation ecosystems across Europe by building on the existing strengths of national, regional and local ecosystems and fostering the participation of all actors and territories to establish, undertake and achieve collective projects. ambitions towards challenges for the benefit of society, including ecological, digital and social transitions and the European Research Area.
